CAMPUS MINISTRY

Metro’s Elementary students gather every Wednesday morning for a special time of student-led worship and community. This cherished tradition fosters spiritual growth, develops leadership and public speaking skills, and encourages poise and self-expression.

Every Thursday morning, our middle and high school students come together for their unique chapel experiences as individual schools. These gatherings start with student-led praise and worship, setting the stage for inspiring messages that connect with their lives and faith.

Metro is committed to helping others, positively impacting the community, and cultivating compassion in its students. Through various advisory groups and school-wide projects, students develop a heart for service and make a positive impact.

Every year, Elementary classes select special projects to support Tulsa neighbors in need. These efforts spread kindness and compassion through simple acts like filling Christmas shoeboxes, visiting seniors, making blankets, and collecting warm clothes for winter.

Secondary Students are required to complete a minimum number of community service hours before graduation. Additional service hours are also required for membership in organizations such as the National Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and other groups.

Metro partners with the Fellow Christian Athletes (FCA) organization, bringing together student-athletes and coaches to explore and deepen their faith through monthly campus meetings, community service, and mentorship programs. By integrating faith and sports, FCA helps Metro athletes become leaders, build meaningful relationships, and impact the greater community.

Metro’s FCA meets monthly at 7:30am in the athletic conference room. Guest speakers are pulled from both our Metro Christian community and outside leaders.

The school’s pastoral care and counseling team provides guidance and support to secondary students, addressing sensitive topics using Biblical principles. This holistic approach nurtures students academically, spiritually, and emotionally while equipping them to navigate life’s challenges with wisdom and faith.

Metro’s Praise and Worship elective helps prepare those called to use their vocal and musical talents in ministry. Our student-led Praise and Worship Team leads Secondary worship during Thursday chapel, See You at the Pole, and other school-wide events. The students learn about the heart of worship from local ministry leaders and plan several evening worship services during the school year.

Metro fosters spiritual growth and community through our Advisory/Tribe program and Retreats. Students in grades 6-12 meet weekly in small groups for prayer, fellowship, and encouragement, alternating between Bible study and service projects. Off-campus experiences include Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Retreat Days and Middle School Tribes Day, where students and mentors enjoy a day of bonding and reflection and activities like laser tag, paintball, team-building exercises, and bowling.

The Doctrine Bible course examines the fundamental beliefs of the Christian faith. This course emphasizes those foundational beliefs that are commonly shared among all evangelicals with opportunities provided for students to explore the specific traditions of their own churches. The doctrines of God, Christ, the Bible, humanity, sin, the Holy Spirit, salvation, and the church outline the content of this course.

Discipleship focuses on what it means to follow Jesus Christ. The course will strive to be intensely practical, giving students the skills and resources needed to grow in their relationship with Christ. Topics covered will include Bible study, spiritual disciplines, service/missions, fundamental Christian doctrine, etc. The class will be highly interactive, using discussions, videos, small groups, and readings to address the topics covered.

Since very few individuals in life will be able to afford everything they might want, we must maximize our ability to save, give prudently, invest for later needs, and purchase wisely for current expenses. In our Personal Finance class, we will be utilizing the Foundations in Personal Finance curriculum of Dave Ramsey, watching the corresponding DVDs, and discussing relevant concepts. We will also use additional hands-on activities and supplement those with Jr. Achievement and basic economics materials. Outside speakers will also be recruited to talk to the class about insurance, real estate, handling credit, etc. This course is founded on Scripture; all topics are taught from a Biblical perspective. This course includes the fourteen objectives required by the Passport to Financial Literacy Act of 2007 (70 O.S. § 11-103.6h).

The Missions and Evangelism Class aims to develop the whole student – mind, body and spirit. Daily discipleship training encourages students to grow in the personal stewardship of their time, health, giftings, relationships and many other areas. Much time is spent in the Bible and prayer, fostering their individual understanding and relationship with Jesus Christ. The course focuses on serving others from an overflow of this personal relationship with a Savior who guides our growth and decisions daily. Every class will serve weekly in the neighborhood schools and community.

Senior Bible, a required course, systematically examines a rational defense of the Christian faith’s essential elements, including the existence of God, the reliability of the Bible, claims of Christ, and the historicity of the resurrection. The student is exposed to the various religious, historical, and scientific attacks typically leveled at the Bible and Christianity. An overview of world religions and cults is included. This course aims to prepare students to defend their faith against opposing world views and arguments and give students a firm foundation as they leave Metro and enter higher education programs.
