Our History
Metro Christian Academy was founded in 1983 by parents and educators with a desire and a vision to create an interdenominational school focused on Christian values. For families seeking a Christ-centered, high-quality, well-respected school ~ parents need not look any further.
Metro is a state-accredited college preparatory school serving P3 through 12th-grade students on one campus. The school is committed to providing an environment in which faith and learning are inseparable and where students, families, and employees see the Gospel of Christ as the foundation for Christian education. Relying on its excellent faculty, Metro’s teachers provide a robust and content-rich curriculum integrated with biblical truths of scripture to help students discover their vast possibilities and potentialities. Graduates of Metro are well prepared to enter into a broken world and confidently share the love of Christ while serving as successful leaders in their individual and varied career paths.
Situated on over 50 acres in the heart of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Metro Christian Academy’s engaging and family-friendly campus includes a P3– 12th-grade education facility, a stand-alone 5th-grade learning center, outdoor learning spaces, playgrounds, a variety of athletic practice and game fields, an indoor practice facility, a renovated football stadium, a state-of-the-art Learning Commons and Media Library. There are priceless benefits to having all of our students on one campus. Routinely, you will find our youngest students interacting with our upper-level students — learning leadership skills by example at a very early age and creating friendships to last a lifetime.

History Highlights
1984
Received state accreditation, which made Metro the first private school to be accredited in its first year of operation.
1985
First K-12 private school to be accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1896.
1985
Added the Diagnostic Instruction Center, which has for over 30 years provided Individual Education Plans accommadating the specific learning needs of students in first through twelfth grades.
1987
Construction completed of the Metro Christian Patriot Football Stadium.
1988
Increased enrollment from 490 to 820 over seven years.
1989
Expanded the Early Childhood Programs to include P3 and Pre-K.
1996
Purchased the facility and grounds from Tulsa Public Schools.
2001
Constructed Phase 1 Middle School Classroom Space in existing basement area.
2002
Remodeled and developed an Early Childhood Wing.
2004
Completed Phase II of the Middle School Classroom build out.
2005
Established the Metro Christian Academy Foundation to manage the growth and development of legacy gifts supporting the school.
2007
Renovated the Performing Arts Theatre.
2009
Installed new roof, perimeter fencing, and new entrances as a part of the Our Time Campaign Phase I Projects.
2010
Added Track and Field Complex as a part of the Our Time Campaign Phase II Projects.
2012
Added the Metro Activity Center (MAC) housing a new lunchroom and gymnasium space and contributed $500,000 to the Foundation Endowment.
2015
Built the Athletic Performance Facility (APC). Added two (2) state-of-the-art High School Science Labs.
2016
Updated the Cafeteria, Library, and Band and Choir Rooms to include paint, lighting, flooring, and furnishings. Built the Indoor Practice Facility (IPF).
2017
Renovation of the original Woody West Basketball Field House to include new bleachers, wall finishes, and floor refinishing.
2019
Renovation of Patriot Stadium to include artificial turf, renovated Press Box, and new video screen. Launched the 1st Christian, Spanish Immersion Program in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Renovation of the Elementary and High School Wings to include carpet, paint and lighting.

Launched the 1st Christian Spanish Immersion Program in Tulsa.

Metro Christian Academy Foundation contributions to the school total $1 Million.
2021
The original library is re-imagined into a state-of-the-art Learning Commons space, aligning with the future transformation of our campus.
2021
With a need to expand learning spaces, the 5th Grade Center is the newest building addition to the Metro Campus.
2022
Café 2.0 Renovations begin, including new ceiling, lighting, flooring, and circulation space.
2022
New, spectator seating at the Metro Christian Baseball Facility is installed, honoring Oklahoma Hall of Fame Coach, Pat Foster.

The original Diagnostic Instructional Center is rebranded and renovated into the Patriot Resource Center.
2023
Celebrating 40 Years of Excellence.

Phase I of the Road to the Future, featuring a new entryway and vehicular drove onto the school grounds is completed.

The Wilkerson Security Vestibule is completed, featuring a secured and renovated main entry, Wall of Excellence, an updated Welcome Station, and new Athletic trophy cases.
