CAMPUS LIFE
Campus Life
Metro Christian Academy has many time-honored traditions and events that bring our community together, strengthening the bond between students, faculty and staff, families, and patrons, while creating a unique Metro experience for all who visit our campus. Metro Patriots are committed to a vibrant, welcoming P3-12th grade school where High School students high-five their most loyal Preschool fans, Elementary students plant seedlings in our hydroponic planter for a later donation to the local food bank, moms gather in the parking lot to pray for our school community each Friday morning, and dads participate in the annual golf tournament raising funds for school initiatives.
From Early Childhood through High School, students and their families participate in a variety of activities designed to add engagement and service opportunities to our academic and spiritual pursuits. All of these activities serve to define us, connect us with our extended community, and allow us to celebrate the accomplishments of our students.

Here’s a sampling of the opportunities for our youngest Patriots:
Annual Book Fair
Twice a year, Metro’s librarians and volunteers offer the Scholastic Book Fair. Students of all ages and their parents attend the fair. A percentage of these proceeds helps purchase more books to add to our library collection or needed library equipment.

Camp Patriot works with many community partners every summer to help us provide the best possible programming to our students and families. Once again this summer we are partnering together with Camp Loughridge to offer a 1-week session of Camp Patriot @ Camp Loughridge.
Back by popular demand, learn how simple items cause giant explosions! From reactions of Mentos and Diet Coke all the way to rockets made from paper that fly hundreds of feet in the air! Campers get a hands-on experience while learning the basic physics of explosions. Come ready to be challenged, learn, and succeed! Several new activities have been added for campers who did this camp session in past years.
Please Note: This camp will take place at CAMP LOUGHRIDGE, so please drop off and pick up each day at Camp Loughridge. Lunch is provided each day. The $295 per camper cost is for full-day camp programming. Mornings will be spent with MCA staff doing special STEM programming and afternoons will be spent with Camp Loughridge staff enjoying many outdoor activities, such as swimming, ropes courses, canoeing, ziplining, and more!
Kanakuk Kampout Week @ Metro 2022
For several years now, Metro has developed a strong relationship with Kanakuk Kampout. As a matter of fact, Metro was the very first school in the Tulsa area to host a week of Kanakuk Kampout! KampOut! is a 1-week high energy, non-stop excitement, traveling Christian day camp experience from Kanakuk for 5 to 12 year olds! Every KampOut! Kamper will see and hear that God is a loving Father and wonderful Creator who loves them and desires for us to love others. Kanakuk counselors have been hand-picked for their Christ-like patience and sensitivity, and they are committed to creatively share the importance of a life lived for Jesus Christ! Campers will have a blast flying down the zipline, scaling the climbing wall, bouncing in the incredible inflatables, and laughing at crazy skits! This is a week that your student does NOT want to miss!

Chapels
Every Wednesday morning, Metro’s Elementary students gather for a worship experience. Student-led chapels provide our students a platform to glorify the Lord, learn poise, and develop leadership and public-speaking skills as they lead their peers in worship.
Community Service Projects
Community Service Projects and Metro’s tradition of developing a strong school community go hand-in-hand. Many of our classes and groups choose a Community Service Project each year. Activities include filling Christmas shoeboxes, visiting the elderly in nursing homes, making fleece blankets, and collecting mittens, gloves, hats, and coats in the winter months. Our faculty, students, and families are dedicated to loving one another and our Tulsa community.
Elementary Reading Week
During this week, students in all grades celebrate literature with — themed-dress days, reading challenges, learning more about various genres, and visits from guest authors and parent-readers. All of our Elementary students connect with one another, reading buddies, and their teachers as they celebrate a love of reading.
Grandparents Day
Annually, our grandparents and grand-friends are treated to a musical and/or dramatic presentation from all the elementary classes during Elementary Chapel. Afterward, they visit their grandchild’s classroom for a cross-generational activity designed by the teacher to honor them and have fun in the classroom.
Musical Performances
Throughout the year, Metro’s Elementary Music Instructor works with each grade level from our littlest friends in P3 to our soon-to-be Middle Schoolers in 5th grade to provide exceptional programs complete with sounds, lights, costumes, and sets for our families, grandparents, and guests.
Spring Art Show
In conjunction with the school’s annual drama performance, visual art pieces created throughout the year by the Elementary students are placed on display in the large gym for fellow classmates, parents, and visitors to view. Every Elementary art student has a piece of their artwork on display — from chalk pastels to watercolors, ceramic pinch-pots to abstract acrylics, and everything in-between. The Art Show comes alive with submissions from all age groups!
Track and Field Day
During the last week of school, all the Elementary students gather on our football field to play a variety of track and field games and competitions. It’s a great way to celebrate the end of the school year and the beginning of summer.
Walk-A-Thon
The Elementary Walk-A-Thon is the largest Elementary fundraiser of the year, with 100% of the proceeds going directly back to the Elementary School! With the past success of this event, we have been able to contribute significant funds towards the STEM Program, technology for classrooms, classroom additions, playground updates, Leveled Readers, and Teacher Wish Lists.
At the Middle School and High School levels, the Office of Student Activities partners with, shepherds, and coordinates the extra-curricular and social activities of Metro’s students and their families beyond the intellectual, athletic, dramatic, and spiritual endeavors occurring in the classrooms, on stage, and on the field or court. These activities and events provide numerous occasions for fellowship, support, growth, and celebration in athletic, artistic, and academic pursuits, and more!

Clubs
Our clubs are driven both by student and teacher interests and passions, so the exact list of clubs is subject to change yearly. Some of our clubs over the years have included National Honor Societies, Robotics, Bowling Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Ultimate Frisbee.
Community Service
Metro Christian Academy believes in community outreach and the impact it has not only on the community-at-large, but also in the hearts of our students. Thus, the school provides multiple opportunities for students to perform community service projects, including advisory group projects and school-wide projects. Metro requires students to complete a certain number of community service hours before graduation in addition to the service hours required for membership in National Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and other organizations.
Homecoming
Student Life partners with Leadership, Alumni, and Athletics during Homecoming Week to sponsor a theme day for each school day, campus decorating contest, pep rally, and Homecoming Dance in addition to the annual Homecoming Football game and Alumni Tailgate Dinner.
Moms & Dads in Prayer
We are blessed with a group of moms who meet once a week and a group of dads who meet once a month to pray for, over, and with our school community.
NHS Blood Drive
In a partnership with Oklahoma Blood Institute and the Red Cross, Metro Christian Academy hosts a fall blood drive. Students 16 and older and all faculty, staff, and families may donate blood.
Parent Teacher Fellowship
Campus Life at Metro Christian Academy strives to model servant leadership. Our parents are provided with opportunities both to serve and to be served. Events for parents include appreciation breakfasts for teachers, encouragement groups and Bible studies for moms or dads, and involvement in student activities.
Leadership and Development
Metro is devoted to developing Christian student leaders. Currently, Metro has a robust student council, including StuCo officers and representatives from grades 7-12, alongside class officers for each individual grade. Student Council sponsors our Homecoming dance, fall service project, and other activities in the spring. We also feature a collaborative and interactive program allowing students to partner with faculty and staff, serving specific needs of the school while learning and honing their leadership skills.
Tribes | Advisory
Small groups in grades 6-12 meet weekly to pray, fellowship, and encourage each other. Some weeks focus on Bible study and prayer, while other weeks prioritize service projects and team-building activities both on and off campus.

Metro Christian Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, or disability in administration of its educational and admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
